Free USIW Wi-Fi hotspots in Minneapolis if you have a credit card
Download now or preview on posterous
Minneapolis_South_free_wi-fi.pdf (1937 KB)

Free USIW Wi-Fi hotspots are supposed to be available around the City now (total of 117). I've attached the map for south Minneapolis.

I had trouble accessing the system in Standish Neighborhood Saturday morning with my iPod Touch. I was able to get to the login screen today at 26th Ave. S. and Franklin E. (northwest corner).

You do have to have a credit card for creating the account although you won't be charged. (I really wish they could have figured out a way to do this for people that don't have credit cards and because I really don't like to share that information if I'm not actually buying something.)

3 iPhone/Touch Apps for getting real-time data on our Nice Ride Minnesota System (one of them does Android/Blackberry)
There are three iPhone/Touch apps available at Apple's app store that give you real-time listing of bike and station availability. Search for "Bixou" (free Lite version or $.99 enhanced version) or "Spotcycle" (free). (Spotcycle is also supposed to have an Android & Blackberry apps available.)

I've looked at them both and I like the Bixou enhanced version. It makes it very easy to save your favorites and it seems to be loading the station list in relation to the station's distance from you.
